Where have all the children gone? Tuition classes everyone!

Television comes with a few goods and many evils. So does tuition. Children have no childhood. Half a day at school. The other half at tuition. Dinner with books and half a night cramming for exams. The other half sleeping in fear of the competition out there. Gladly we were not part of the tuition generation.

Why tuition?

Schools and educators: The first question that comes to mind is that aren’t school teachers doing good enough a job?

Fashion and trends: Are parents sending their kids for tuition just because everyone else is?

Fear of failure: Are students keen on tuition because they fear falling behind?

Enjoyment: Is it just a place to make friends and enjoy time away from home?

Whatever the reasons are the results needs to be evaluated well to see whether there is any real benefit from tuition at all and if so it needs to be managed in a controlled fashion. Is anyone allowed to open such an institution? Who runs these and who are the teachers? Is the curriculum and syllabus just enforced or completed? What effect does it have on the psychological development of the child?

I fear the for the youth of today and the future tomorrow! I fear that they no longer have a voice because their parents are just blending with the times without questioning the real need of tuition.

Kids need to be kids! They need to play out in the sun, climb trees and run around. They need a life as much as you and I and that does not have to be compromised in the name of education. It is about setting a balance. All work and no play is no good! Think about the long term consequences! You have a genius who doesn’t know how to swim or ride a bicycle because he missed out on his childhood!
