I don't like doing things at the last minute. It drives me crazy. I recall my under-grad days when I used to start a project right on the day I received it while others in my team would wait for the last week before submission to even start thinking about it. Some of them used to say why prolong the suffering?
But would it be suffering at all, if it is nicely spaced out and well planned. I can't cram... and I always like to be prepared.
Being raised in a family who started doing things ahead of time to reach a deadline nice and smooth I think it is partly my nature to get done with things as soon as I can. My DH unfortunately is the exact opposite. Packing for a trip ahead of time or being prepared for the unexpected negatives is remotely his thing. I am usually the calm and cool one in the airports.
I prepare my students for real life. I tell them that life is hard and unfair sometimes. That they have to work hard to achieve their dreams. You wont wake up with rose petals on your bed everyday. The facts aren't always pleasant to hear but you've got to hear it nevertheless.
If you have something to start, then start today. You may hit a few dead ends or take some U-turns but you wont be late to your destination because you started early!
