What makes a good teacher?

I used to explain things to my friends in school and they would get me in one shot. That's how I knew I had a talent for teaching and was able to develop a liking towards it. Today there are many high standards set for a teacher but the components and characteristics that judge the effectiveness of a teacher are vague if any. So what makes a good teacher?
