Fun Ideas for Classroom Activities

Cheers!

Here are some things I like doing with my students to make my classes more fun! As they say, if you can't beat them....

Science Pictionary

After dividing the class into two equally numbered, teams, I would give the students a list of science words only to choose from to draw for their team. All regular pictionary rules apply except that he must be science related. You can do this in social studies and vocabulary of any language. With a little creativity, it can even be used in math and accounts.

Inter-class oral quiz competition

I used to have y 8th graders compete against the 7th graders. They would make the questions for the opposing team. The competition can even be open book and to make it more fun you can assign a timer to check how long each student ta

Impromptu Speech

Break the ice! Call up a random student to speak on a random topic of their choice, This could be either subject related or have nothing to do with school. Your  students will love it. Be sure to give them public speaking tips BEFORE they start!

Write a song or poem using subject related vocabulary with your students. You will be surprised as to how creative your students can be, Sing the song or recite the poem as a whole class. This can even be a small group activity.

During break time - and I do hope you give your students very tiny breaks during class - play them a fun video which has subject content related edutainment. Pretend they don't have to watch it if they don't want to but trust me, they'll be glued.
